Michigan Education Justice Coalition Action Fund (MEJC-AF) is a 501(c)(4) organization fiscally sponsored by Forward Michigan that is working to establish a more equitable, just, and well-funded public education system for ALL kids in Michigan through a mix of grassroots movement-building and electoral politics.
During the 2022 Michigan school board elections, we created the VoteForMiKids.org website that assigns school board candidates a ‘Like’ or ‘Dislike’ based upon their platforms, public remarks, and track record as an individual and/or elected official. We intend to update this website with future data in anticipation of Michigan elections. In maintaining this tool, we hope to inform voters of which candidates will uphold the “Healthy and Healing Schools Platform” set forward by the Michigan Education Justice Coalition.

Our platform? We want equitable funding, comprehensive sex education (CSE), lessons on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), social-emotional learning (SEL), restorative justice practices, and more for ALL students and schools in the State of Michigan. Education Forward Michigan is the organization by which we will show our support for the bills and elected officials who share our vision.
